In the summer of 2015, I participated in on Big Data Analytics Institute held at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The workshop involved classroom instruction as well as a research project on Big Data Analytics.
In my chosen sub-field of genomics I worked with a partner to look at Mitochondrial DNA Copy number and identify genetic variants that influence this number. We used Python to determine mtDNA copy numbers and then performed regression analysis using SAS.
