I took a class in spring 2017 about prosthetics in the developing world and worked on a cosmesis team. I worked on ideation, design, and creating prototypes of this lightweight cast and both mechanisms of attaching it to pylons. I created swatches for color matching it to skin with waterproof materials and conducted the force testing on the cast.
Our mission is to design a proof of concept prototype of a protective, anthropomorphic, transtibial prosthetic covering (cosmesis) that is low cost, lightweight, quick to assemble, and adaptable to all prostheses with a standard pylon in the developing world.
